Welcome to the fyeahkorea frequently asked questions page! This page will be updated as more questions come in. Let’s get started!!
1. Who runs the site? How was it started? etc.
Good question! The founder of this blog is Bianca. She started it on a whim seeing there weren’t many active blogs dedicated to the South Korean culture. Kay really helped out once the blog reached 50+ followers. Although she is not active anymore sadly. Once the follower count was past 300 Bianca decided to get more mods in on the fun!
2. What are your tumblrs?
3. Do you speak Korean? Are you Korean?
Unfortunately none of us are fluent in Korean nor are we of Korean descent. However we all know some basic words and phrases and have a grasp on Korean culture. Alyssa has studied in Korea, Bianca has visited Korea (and plans to live there), and Caitlin is currently studying abroad there!
4. I am visiting Korea soon, what are some must see places?
First of all, congratulations! Having the opportunity to visit any country is amazing. There are a ton of awesome places in Korea to see…but what exactly you choose depends on your interests. I highly recommend checking out the official Korea Tourism website to help you plan your trip. That website is honestly your best bet! Also google is your best friend, try googling things like “top 10 places to see in Seoul” stuff like that is very helpful!
Here is a few recommended links for you guys!
-Check out CandySky for k-pop related places to check out in korea

If you have specific questions about traveling to Korea PLEASE ask us, we would be more than happy to help and share our personal experiences!
5. I want to live in Korea….but how?! And what is life like there?
Moving to another country no matter where you go is going to involve some research, money, and LOTS of paperwork. If you want to permanently become a citizen you should check out Korea4Expats. This site has a TON of info about life in Korea and the steps it takes to move to Korea. Plus it’s a good website if you’re just traveling too! One thing for sure, is that you should check out if your area has a Korean Embassy or Consulate. If you want to see if there is one near you check this site out. Googling for “Life in Korea” blogs is a great way to get some information as well. Some of my favorites include Eat Your Kimchi (I know they receive A LOT of hate but their information about life in Korea is VERY helpful) and I live in Korea which is no longer updated but still has some great info and stories about life as a non-Korean in Korea! Just be sure to do your research and be prepared. Good luck!
6. Help I want to learn how to speak Korean! Where can I start?!
There is no secret to learn a new language except to study hard and practice! But fortunately there is a TON of free resources for you to use online to help you. Here is a list of our favorites:
- Memrise: useful for memorizing vocab, it’s really a lot of fun!
-Talk to Me in Korean: great for grammar and vocab. They make use of audio lessons and youtube videos. The staff is based in Korean and they are super helpful and friendly.
- Korean 101: another awesome site, for some advanced features you need to pay but a lot of it is free. Plus you can even sign up for a “Korean word of the day” email!
